Manufacturing Equipment

The labs host a line of material synthesis equipment from powder, wire, and thin film to composite material test coupons.​ Nano-materials and functional materials fabrication facilities are available, including electronic printing, coating, electromagnetic polarization, and heat treatment. Advanced Composite for aerospace structural component level​ Studies are possible to fabricate.

Basic metal and composite machining, pre- and post-processing, and sheet metal working ​facilities are available. Additive manufacturing capabilities for thermoplastics, thermoset resin, advanced fibre composites,​ and laser processing at the fundamental material processing level are available.

Testing Equipment

The labs host testing equipment for basic materials in powder, thin film, wire, coating, sandwich composite forms, and standardtest coupons for thermo-mechanical, electrical, and optical, bio-chemical property measurements. Advanced non-destructiveand spectroscopic testing equipment are available for inspection of defects in small to large components using a variety ofphysical methods such as ultrasonic, electromagnetic/RF, optical, and further coupled methods such as nonlinear-ultrasonics,thermo-acoustics, and laser doppler interferometry. Non-destructive thermo-mechanical measurements are possible usingDynamic Mechanical Analyzers at a wide range of temperatures from cryogenic to high temperatures. Structural test couponsand components can be tested using different capacity Universal Testing Machines. These equipment can be used for fatigue,creep and fracture testing. Vibration and modal testing facility can be instrumented for small-scale fundamental investigations.Corrosion, hygrothermal, erosion, low-velocity, sonic and hypersonic impact testing facilities are available.​
