Natural and Bio-Systems Health Monitoring and Diagnostics

Two particular aspects under this broad field are covered in our present research effort. One is the study and evaluation of biomaterials and supporting biology in synthetic environment using in vitro set-up and lab-on-chip instrumentation, sensors, imaging systems etc. Effect of various control, environmental factors etc. are analyzed. Modeling and simulation effort is directed toward enabling phenomenological understanding and correlating sensing signals to various process parameters. An important objective here is to understand how sensory functions can be assembled in natural/biological processes and how predictive and mechanistic models can be combined to evaluate various quantities of interests.

the area of diagnostic device related developmental/translational research, we are interested in developing design methodology and processes in order to perform diagnostic functions and analyze data in a manner driven by associated models, various constraints (low-resource settings, data granularity, sensing uncertainty and variability over samples and population scales).
