Project Associate (Engineer/Specialist – Advanced Non-Destructive Inspection Technologies)
backThe position is for developing advanced quantitative non-destructive testing and inspection technologies and associated tools (software and hardware), besides applying standard techniques, algorithms, and test procedures in specific applications with structural components for reference tests and new technology validation. The inspection methods will employ ultrasonic and electromagnetic principles and relevant sensors. The research and development objectives include quantitative detection of material properties and functional performance degradation in the life cycle of structural components. In the NDT applications, the functional performance parameters are strongly influenced by stress, temperature, and other environmental factors. The inspection processes to be established are based on the original design verification and life-extension-related design improvements.
-
MTech/PhD with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with NDT techniques and a clear understanding of basic theoretical principles and data analysis, related test and measurement hardware and software tools. Experience with ultrasonic or electromagnetic wave-based inspection of materials and components is essential. Hand-on experimental or computational application experience with one or multiple of these specific techniques, such as guided wave, C-scan, wave scattering, and computer tomography, will be essential. Additional experience in quantitative analysis and correlation with material properties and structural performance parameters in the context of fatigue/creep/environmental degradation-related life-cycle parameter estimation will be an added advantage. Experience with Industry-standard inspection processes for metallic and composite structural components will be an advantage.
-
A minimum of 2 years of experience with Matlab or equivalent programming-based data processing and visualization is required. Experience with ultrasonic or electromagnetic transmitter-receiver systems and data acquisition tools such as NI Lab-view or equivalent will be an added advantage.
-
Minimum of 1 year of experience with NDT hardware or software tool design and development will be an added advantage. Persons with experience with embedded system design, RF devices, or high-frequency data acquisition systems-related applications are welcome to apply.

Project Associate (Simulation Specialist – Additive Manufacturing)
The position is for additive manufacturing process simulation, particularly thermo-physics, heat transfer, and material melting-solidification. The aim is to predict defects and microstructures in processes like alloy powder melting and solidification, powder bed fusion, directed energy deposition, and laser-material interaction. Prior understanding and additional scientific development efforts may be required to integrate thermo-mechanical models, material models, data-driven algorithms, and reduced-order modelling for process parameter optimisation. The work will involve detailed simulations using multiphysics finite element software tools such as Comsol. The aim is the development of model-based and data-driven numerical schemes to aid in process diagnostic and process parameter optimisation. The work will have to be carried out with close collaboration in a team for simulation verification and validation using physical tests and measurement data.
